Student Responsibilities & Program Policies
Aug-2021
Student Responsibilities
- Your first responsibility is to be open to learning.
- Read and understand all relevant College policies including the Student Code of Conduct and the Academic Integrity Policy.
- Read course outlines, project briefs and correspondence from professors. Ask questions if you are unsure about project requirements or need clarification about material covered in class.
- Check your Sheridan email frequently to ensure you are not missing important information throughout the year.
- Attend all classes and communicate regularly with faculty, especially if you are having difficulty keeping up in your courses.
- Note that withdrawal from the program terminates equipment access privileges and access to facilities. You are also required to return any materials provided in the first year of the program.

Centre for Equity and Inclusion
Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design Charter of Values
The Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design (FAAD) embraces equity, diversity and inclusion for all its community members, including learners, instructors, and staff. FAAD recognizes and aims to reconcile historic and systemic barriers and create an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment, and sexual misconduct.
Academic Integrity
All submitted course work must be created by you and not plagiarized. Please follow guidelines and instructions provided by faculty related to academic integrity for courses and projects. This includes adherence to academic citation standards and practices as well as the use and application of AI (artifical intelligence) tools and platforms. Sheridan procedures will be followed if an academic integrity breach has been identified.

Attendance
You are expected to attend all classes. If you have academic accommodations that impact your attendance, please consult with your professor/instructor so you can stay on track. If for any reason you cannot attend a class, it is strongly recommended that you contact your professor/instructor in advance and let them know about your absence. Multiple absences can seriously impact your academic performance.
Assignment Submission
All course work is supported through continuous group and individual critique throughout a multi-week process that builds towards project submission.
All projects and exercises must be submitted at the beginning of the class on the date specified in the assignment brief unless otherwise stated by your professor.
An assignment submitted within one week (5 business days), after the due date, will receive a 10% grade reduction. Assignments more than one week late will not be graded unless a prior arrangement has been made with your professor.
If there is a valid reason for the late assignment, the student must email their professor no later than the date the assignment is due to indicate it will be late. If the reason is deemed to be valid, there will be no late penalty. An extension may be granted at the discretion of the professor.
There will be no resubmission of work unless the professor agrees.
Always seek academic advising before dropping courses!
Please contact the program coordinator, Angela Iarocci, angela.iarocci@sheridancollege.ca, if you are considering dropping a course.
There may be serious academic consequences if you do not have the required course(s) necessary to continue to the next year of the program.
Grading and Evaluation
The evaluation scheme for each course is available within the outline. Specific evaluation criteria and weighting for each project, exercise, or assignment within a course are included in the briefs provided by the professor/instructor.
The program grading scheme provides an overview of general expectations for evaluation: Experiential Design Program Grading Scheme
You can also consult the Sheridan grading system which provides Grade Point equivalents: https://myotr.sheridancollege.ca/grading_systems.html
Academic Standing for Degree programs
Please note the following is excerpted from the current Academic Standing policy. It is your responsibility to check all official policy documents.
Refer to the Academic Standing Policy for information about the minimum GPAs required in order to continue in and graduate with an Honours degree. A student whose GPAs fall below the minimum requirements during the course of their studies may receive a Graduation Warning, or find themselves on Academic Probation or Academic Suspension. Please see the Academic Standing Policy for more information.
Students in academic difficulty are strongly encouraged to speak to their professors and/or their Program Academic Advisor (Coordinator) as soon as possible. We are here to help you find pathways to success; there are always options for going forward.
